Itinerary

Our car will fetch you from your hotel in Entebbe at 1 pm, and take you to the ferry, which is about 15 minutes away. On the way we will have a short stopover at a supermarket to stock up a little, however, the ship will also offer snacks, meals and drinks. The ferry will leave at 2 pm, taking about 3 hours to the main island of Ssese known as Bugala Island. We will spend those hours discussing Ssese, Lake Victoria and Uganda on the benches of the first-class compartment or enjoying the views from the dock. A good book in your bag will also make good sense.
On arrival at Lutoboka Bay, our lodge's car or motorboat will already be waiting. It will be only a short ride, as most hotel establishments are lined up on the beach next to the ferry landing. Once we occupy our rooms, we will stroll around the area to meet the dense forest, the white sand beach and numerous birds. Our dinner, possibly excellent fish or another meal of your choice, will be served next to the lake, near the campfire.

After breakfast, at 9 am, we will embark on a walk to the island centre of Kalangala, to the fishing village of Mwena and the uniquely located campsite of Fort Jesus at the tip of a peninsula. We will pass through settlements full of cute children, past stalls with local snacks and through plantations of palm trees. At 4 or 5 pm we will arrange for a motorboat to bring us back to our lodge. For dinner, we will visit a neighbouring campsite managed by German businessmen famous for their giant samosas.

We will need to catch the ferry departing at 8 am, reaching Entebbe at around 11 am. Our car will be waiting to deliver you back to your hotel. You may choose to spend your afternoon in Entebbe at the National Botanical Gardens and/or at the Uganda Wildlife Education Centre.
